Pedro Porro arrived at Tottenham Hotspur from Sporting last January and has cemented his place at the Premier League side this season.
The right-back has managed four goals and 11 assists from 38 games for Spurs. He sat down for a detailed interview with AS, to review his first year at the north London club.
Porro has revealed life at Tottenham wasn’t easy initially, but things have improved a lot after Ange Postecoglou arrived last summer.
“It has been a year that has involved periods of adaptation. When I arrived here, at first, it was a bit difficult for me, but in football it is normal. I think I have adapted. It has been a good year, on the individual side and especially now with the arrival of Postecoglou it has gotten better,” he said.
The Spain international made his Tottenham debut against his former club, Manchester City, last February.
The two sides will face each other in the FA Cup later today and the 24-year-old is of the belief Spurs are ready to compete at the top. He made this claim when asked how his side are approaching the clash against the Citizens.
Spurs lost their star striker, Harry Kane, to Bayern Munich last summer, and when asked how his exit impacted the Tottenham dressing room, he said: “Obviously, it affects you.”
“But Postecoglou has managed to see such an important player leave and the family to be more united. It makes other players, who were also important, even more so.”
Tottenham had enjoyed a good start to the season, before going without a league win in November. They are currently fifth in the table, trailing second placed Manchester City by three points.
On the goal for this season, the Spaniard added: “I am clear, to continue fighting day by day as we are doing, and I am sure that good things will come.”
When asked about his dream, Porro explained: “Win a title with my country. Let’s hope it is in 2024. And another with Tottenham.”
