Radu Dragusin didn’t have a great spell at Tottenham and is looking to put his time in London behind him.
The Romanian was being pursued by several Italian clubs in January. At that point, Spurs rejected a loan exit and were only keen on a permanent departure.
Things changed in the summer, as Fiorentina landed him on an initial loan with an obligation to buy. Dragusin made a slow start to life in Florence but impressed against Venezia and did well against Napoli.
The defender wants to move past the Tottenham spell.
Player finding consistency
Dragusin spoke to reporters after Fiorentina’s 1-1 draw against Napoli, when the defender put in his best performance of the season.
He made it clear that he couldn’t find consistency at Tottenham but things are changing in Florence.
Dragusin revealed – via ViolaNews: “I’m better now, but it’s normal to find the right path at the beginning.”
“At Tottenham I didn’t have much consistency, in the end the present is what matters most. Now we need to continue to grow and improve.”
The centre-back clarified he is still looking for ways to grow and Fiorentina is the right place for that.
“My best? I need to continue to grow, otherwise I’ll never improve. Today I played well, but I’m looking for ways to improve.”
“Matches are also played based on the opponent. You need a lot of intensity and concentration in one-on-one situations, so you have to always be alert. Because if you lose that duel, it becomes difficult.”
Fiorentina is the right club
After a chaotic start to the season, Dragusin and Fiorentina are back on track. They are unbeaten in two and did quite well against Napoli on Sunday.
Dragusin has been a regular through the ups and downs. This suggests he is expected to be a leader at the back and he is slowly living up to the label.
New manager Paolo Vanoli doesn’t necessarily demand his centre-backs to be excellent on the ball either. This will help the 24-year-old, who is better off playing in a mid-block or a low-block. This wasn’t always the case at Tottenham, where injuries didn’t help Dragusin either.
