Tottenham Hotspur‘s Sandro Tonali has provided a positive update on his fitness and insists the Premier League side aren’t in a major crisis despite the poor start to the season.
Roberto De Zerbi arrived at the north London club in March and was instrumental in Spurs avoiding relegation last season.
After finishing 17th, Tottenham invested well over €350m on new signings in the summer window. They paid over €100m in bringing the Italy international from Newcastle United in July.

Roberto De Zerbi has started the midfielder in all five Premier League matches and left him out of the squad for the EFL Cup this season.
Earlier this month, Sandro Tonali suffered a knock, but that didn’t force him to miss a league match. He’s now part of the Azzurri squad for the ongoing international break.
The 26-year-old spoke to the media and Calciomercato have relayed his comments.
When asked about how he feels, the Tottenham Hotspur player talked about his current situation.
“Physically, I’m 100% now; the discomfort I had has resolved. I’m ready to do my part,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter if I play as a midfielder or a playmaker, especially since the roles can be different. It depends on the match: sometimes one role is better, sometimes another. The important thing is to have a great game.”
Disappointing run with Tottenham
Spurs paid a club-record fee to sign the 26-year-old in July. His agent, Giuseppe Riso, has explained how the English club made it easier for him to pick the north London club.
Sandro Tonali is yet to register a league win with Tottenham Hotspur, who are winless after five matches. The poor run has seen them sit at the bottom of the table. Last week, the midfielder started in Italy’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.
When comparing his club and country, Tonali explained: “Football is a very strange world; in ten days, everything can change from negative to positive.”
“I would classify our current situation as a club as negative in terms of results but positive in terms of football. We’re having fun and creating chances. If you don’t score in football, you lose. We’re not in the doldrums; we’re alive and well, and we’re positive. We know the team is very strong.”
“Here with the national team, it’s different; it’s a very new and young group; we’ve practically never played together. We just have to wait.”
Tonali has an opportunity to overcome the disappointment against Belgium when Italy face Turkey later today. With Tottenham, the player has to wait at least until they take on Manchester United after the international break.
