Hull City are expected to make a ‘firm proposal’ for Monaco midfielder Eliot Matazo in the next few hours.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Hull are targeting the 22-year-old and preparing a bid for him.

The newspaper reports states that the Belgian midfielder could ‘bounce back’ in England despite having offers from France.

FC Nantes, Monaco and representatives of the player have been in contact for several weeks over a potential transfer. The negotiations have not moved forwards, though.

Monaco want a permanent transfer, but Nantes don’t want to go further than a loan. That could end up benefitting Hull.

The Championship club could send a ‘first firm proposal’ to Monaco estimated at €2m in the coming hours. Such an offer would be close to what Monaco want for the midfielder.

Monaco have given him an ‘exit voucher’, though. That means there is a deal there to be done for the interested parties. In fact, they have already planned how they will replace him.

The feeling is that Hull City will take advantage of that at some point and present an official offer soon to get the ball rolling.
