Juventus manager Thiago Motta has rubbished suggestions Andrea Cambiaso is on his way to Manchester City.

Calciomercato cover comments from the Juventus boss today in which he insists the defender is in his team for Saturday’s clash with AC Milan.

Reports throughout this week have seen Manchester City pushing closer to an official bid for the Juventus full-back.

The Premier League champions are spending big this month to strengthen Pep Guardiola’s squad, particularly in defence. The left-back is reportedly the number one target for that position.

It was made clear yesterday that Manchester City were eyeing up a €60-65m bid for him. Reports in Italy around that made it clear Juventus want at least €80m.

Whether Manchester City would spend such a figure on the 24-year-old remains unclear. However, there was a growing confidence he would end up at the Etihad. In fact, some seemingly had him on the verge of the move.

It appears that is far from being the truth, though. And Juventus manager Thiago Motta wants to make that abundantly clear.

“I see him very well and he will play tomorrow,” he is quoted as saying when asked directly about Cambiaso today.

“I don’t like talking about the transfer market. Then talking about a market ‘if’… Imagine that I have nothing to add.

“Andrea is very well; he will be on the pitch tomorrow. That’s for sure. Untransferable? Yes, I already have asked for players not to be sold. And they kept them.”
