Not long ago, Fulham were seen as the main contenders for the signing of Fluminense midfielder André.

With the player engaged in playing the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup for his club, a deal was only expected by the end of last year, and that never happened.

Journalist Victor Lessa now shares a story about André and his concerning situation at Fluminense, as the club aren’t receiving any bids for a January transfer.

As he talks about Fulham’s interest in the player, it’s claimed that the Whites have ‘disappeared’ from the talks, despite having advanced negotiations for the move.

There are no details on why Marco Silva’s side gave up on the signing, although Lessa brings one specific reason why clubs left the race for André.

The midfielder reportedly turned down a move to Liverpool last summer, as he was focused on Fluminense’s campaign. That’s claimed to be an attitude which may have made other sides think badly of his mindset and his career plan, as if he wasn’t enough focused on a transfer to Europe.

There’s no certainty this is Fulham’s case, as their attempt was something more recent. Still, there’s some mysterious reason why the Whites are no longer in the race, while the player’s staff is now worried that no offers are arriving.
