Rangers have been working on appointing a new permanent manager for next season, after letting Philippe Clement leave Ibrox in February. The Scottish club have identified a few candidates, including Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti.
Three days ago, we covered claims from Spain which stated Rangers are the best placed club in the race for the 35-year-old. It was also reported he was close to taking the vacant job at Ibrox, before it was reported elsewhere in Spain that he’d potentially continue working with his father.
He’s currently part of Carlo Ancelotti’s backroom team at Real Madrid and has accompanied his father in repeat jobs. Davide hasn’t managed a club on his own and Rangers are said to have presented him that opportunity.
The Italian won’t be joining Rangers or another club anytime soon if Onda Cero journalist Alberto Pereiro is to be believed. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state Carlo and Davide won’t be parting ways.
Carlo will leave Real Madrid to become Brazil manager, and the Spanish journalist now claims his son will accompany him to South America until the 2026 World Cup. Therefore, if Albero Pereiro is correct, Davide won’t be taking the Rangers job this summer.
