Sevilla’s interest in signing Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur has never been a secret, since that pursuit has been reported for a couple of weeks.
However, it seems the La Liga side now don’t even mind trying to keep that as a secret anymore.
That’s because today, in a press conference, manager Jorge Sampaoli was asked about the rumour and had no problems talking about it.
The coach revealed this is not the first time he tries to sign the winger, and admitted he’s interested in taking the Tottenham player to the Spanish club.
“Yes, he fits the profile I want because I already wanted him for Marseille,” said Sampaoli (via Estadio Deportivo).
According to recent reports from the Spanish media, Sevilla are interested in signing Gil on a loan until the end of the season.
It’s not yet known if the player is on board with the operation, but his father recently pointed out that the La Liga side are his ‘home’, making it a big sign that people close to him want him back at the club.
Gil only has 306 minutes played for Tottenham this season, so it’d not be a surprise to see Antonio Conte letting him leave in January.
