Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmöller has admitted he would love the Manchester United job.
SportBILD have the comments from the Frankfurt manager today in which he admits he wouldn’t turn down a move to Manchester United if it was offered.
Toppmöller has earned himself a growing reputation in Germany for his work with Frankfurt, who he led to the Champions League via the league for the first time in their history.
There’s also been a strong track record of improving players and selling them on for a massive profit, with Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitiké the standout names in that regard.
It won’t be long before he’s being linked with some of the biggest jobs in the business, particularly if Frankfurt can impress in the Champions League this season. They started the league phase with a 5-1 win over Galatasaray last week.
He’s already been targeted by Saudi Arabia, with Al-Ittihad offering him €8m per year to head to the Middle East.
The 44-year-old turned that down to remain in Germany. That’s proven to be a smart choice as he impresses with Frankfurt and continues to add to his reputation. Asked about his dream club he was clear it’s Manchester United.
“Basically, it’s a dream to be at Eintracht now,” he said.
“It’s simply a fantastic club. Here, as a teenager, I witnessed for the first time that my father was a Bundesliga coach. That naturally creates an emotional bond with a club.
“Thinking about abroad, I often played computer games as a child, always with one team: Manchester United. That would definitely be nice someday, because it’s an extraordinary club.
“When I was a teenager, Manchester United was, along with Real Madrid, the biggest club of all.”
