Everton are one of the sides showing ‘great interest’ in São Paulo winger Lucas Ferreira, but face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Krasnodar.

That’s according to journalist Jorge Nicola, who covers interest in the 19-year-old winger today and says Everton and Wolves have shown an interest in him.

He reports that the Russian side sent an €8m offer to São Paulo for the winger around a month and a half ago, which was already rejected by the Brazilian side. They had no intention of selling at that point.

But the story has been picked up again this week, particularly as interest in the Premier League seems to be growing.

According to Nicola, there has been a series of inquiries about Ferreira, who only made his senior debut for São Paulo in March, and Everton and Wolves are among those showing the most interest in him.

“Those that have shown the greatest interest in signing the player are Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton,” he said.

“Neither of them has made an official offer to São Paulo. Lucas Ferreira’s representatives were consulted to understand how much it would cost, how much Lucas Ferreira would like to earn, and what the terms of the deal are.

“São Paulo has given preference to selling other athletes over Lucas Ferreira, all so that the winger can remain at São Paulo. The Tricolor is convinced that Lucas Ferreira has a lot of potential to increase in value.”

It seems, then, that the Premier League duo might have work on their hands to convince São Paulo into even considering a sale, never mind sanctioning it.

Given he only has 22 appearances for the first team to date, with one goal and one assist, he may be a name to keep an eye on for the future than get excited about right now.
