Barcelona want €10m minimum for Everton target Hèctor Fort, with Borussia Dortmund now in the picture for the 20-year-old.
Mundo Deportivo report that the right-back is available for an almost bargain figure as they look to continue raising funds.
Barcelona exodus
The newspaper reports that the ‘player exodus’ will continue at Barcelona over the remaining two weeks of the transfer window. Marc Casadó and Hèctor Fort are now at the front of the queue to be moved on.
Both players ill be at the Camp Nou this evening for the squad presentation, but they are not in Barcelona’s long-term plans. They are both waiting to determine their next moves.
Fort is ‘highly likely’ to end up somewhere in Europe. Real Sociedad showed an interest this week. Sport Witness covered a report on that, and them providing potential competition for Everton. But the Spanish side cannot afford him.
Barcelona are looking for a fee in the ‘double-digit millions’. They will not accept a transfer fee lower than the €10m they recently received for Tommy Marqués. But the goal is to secure a higher figure given this player’s greater experience in La Liga. Reports elsewhere have indicated a €15m fee.
Borussia Dortmund competition
Borussia Dortmund are in the mix, which could be a problem for Everton. They can offer a ‘pathway for growth’ and a ticket to the Champions League. Mundo Deportivo say the German side hold an ‘advantageous position’.
The two clubs also have a positive relationship after Barcelona signed Karim Adeyemi earlier this summer. Everton, then, would have work to do.
But with their need to sign a right-back on-going, this is the type of deal they should not be ignoring. The fee being requested is not a big one by any means, and Hèctor Fort could be worth double that or more in a couple of years’ time if things go well.
