Donny van de Beek’s situation at Manchester United continues to be upsetting some people in the Netherlands.
Due to his lack of minutes for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, local reports have been urging him to discuss the subject with the club or even pack his bags and leave.
Following the recent anger from his home country’s media, it’s now claimed even the player himself is uncomfortable with situation, and won’t speak to the press at the moment.
That’s something claimed by Voetbal International journalist Süleyman Öztürk, who says Van de Beek is ‘disappointed’ with what has been going on with him at Old Trafford.
“I think Donny is also disappointed by this situation and therefore doesn’t want to give interviews. He’s upset about the situation’, said Öztürk (via Soccer News).
“Solskjaer would have honour if he honestly told Van de Beek: I see you as a replacement for Bruno Fernandes. And then as a replacement, not the replacement.
“Now you see that Solskjaer is talking about the future. But what future? Fernandes will play at Manchester United for a while and Rashford too.”
The journalist also compared him to former Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen, who spent only one season at the Goodison Park.
“It looks like a Davy Klaassen scenario. Three-minute raid… Then you think: what am I doing here?”
Signed from Ajax on a €39m deal last summer, Van de Beek already has 20 appearances for Manchester United, with a total of only 762 minutes so far.
There’s every chance he was signed to get settled and then play more of a role once Paul Pogba leaves, and that he doesn’t want to give the Dutch media interviews could say as much about his annoyance with their reporting on the issue as it does his actual situation.
