For the past few weeks, multiple claims from Italy have talked about Juventus’ desire to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in January.
On Thursday, Calciomercato reported the north London club are demanding €30m and this makes it ‘impossible’ for the Serie A side to sign the midfielder.
Juve could be presented with an opportunity to buy the 28-year-old if a report from Quotidiano Sportivo is to be believed.
The Turin club’s need to strengthen the midfield in January has increased due to the ongoing situations with Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli, and Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli must accelerate his efforts.
It’s claimed a possible termination of Pogba’s contract will leave Giuntoli with €25m and that could be used to buy the Denmark international. The figure quoted is €5m less than the fee requested by Spurs.
Højbjerg has been ‘indispensable’ for Denmark and had the same status at Tottenham until the end of last season as he’s now been reduced to a substitute’s role under Ange Postecoglou.
The report states the former Southampton man, who is ‘gifted with great techinque’, could relaunch his career at Juve and he’s the ‘tough guy’ that Massimiliano Allegri needs in Turin.
The possible termination of Pogba’s contract can allow Giuntoli to ‘attempt a coup’ for the Dane but the outlet makes no mention if Juve can sign the latter if the Frenchman is still at the club.
