Enzo Barrenechea has thanked Aston Villa for letting him seal a loan move to Valencia on deadline day.
Last month, Aston Villa signed him on a permanent transfer from Juventus. Unai Emery left him out of the squad for the two league games, which convinced the 23-year-old to leave the Villans in search of regular minutes.
Aston Villa had initially paused the negotiations, before giving the green light. On Friday, El Desmarque reported the defensive midfielder pushed for a transfer.
Speaking to Valencia’s official media, the Argentine has thanked Emery & co. His quotes are relayed AS. Barrenechea has also revealed that he had several options to leave the Premier League side.
“I have had several options, but with my family and my representative I have decided to come here, it was the best. I want to thank Aston Villa for letting me leave and Valencia CF for trusting me,” he said.
On his decision to join Los Ches, Barrenechea explained: “Because of the history, the number of Argentines who have passed through here, I had the opportunity to get to know Valencia and I love the city. It is a club with a lot of history, and I love the fans.”
The Aston Villa man’s sister goes to university in Valencia and his family have also shifted to the Spanish city recently. Barrenechea claims “it was destiny” that brought him to Mestalla. The South American is pleased to have reunited with his family.
“Just three or four weeks ago my family made the decision to start a new path in their life because we were always together, I went to England, my brother plays football in Italy and my sister started university here in Valencia,” he added.
“They came to live in Valencia a few weeks ago, they are already in the apartment, and destiny brought me here too.”
AS are of the belief this will help the Aston Villa owned player to adapt quickly at the La Liga side.
