With just one year left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, it was widely expected that Victor Moses would find himself a new club during the transfer window.
Spending the last season on loan at both Fenerbahçe and Inter, the Nigeria international isn’t a part of Frank Lampard’s plans, meaning he could have a long few months ahead of him until the January transfer window.
He nearly had an escape route, however, as the same Serie A club he played during the back end of the last campaign gave it a late go on Monday.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain the ‘last assault’ from Inter for Moses ‘failed’ as it was ‘too difficult to convince Chelsea of a new loan’ for the player.
This would have likely meant the winger needing to renew his contract by a year, and it’s explained by Corriere dello Sport it would have been a ‘race against the clock’ to get everything done in time.
Either way, Inter didn’t get the forward they wanted, while Chelsea are now stuck with Moses, who will have to be patient before getting game time under his belt, having yet to feature under Lampard since his return.
