FC Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter has insisted they are yet to receive any interest from Brighton and Hove Albion for Ricardo Pepi but would be open to dealing with one should it arrive.
The director has been speaking to Sky in Germany, relayed by Fussball Transfers, regarding the 20-year-old amid reports about a potential departure from the German side this summer.
Pepi has been spending the season on loan at Dutch side FC Groningen, joining them in the summer transfer window in the hope of getting back on track after struggling in the Bundesliga since moving in January last year.
He’s been impressive in the Eredivisie, bagging 10 goals a three assists to date and featuring in 92% of the available minutes.
His performances have not gone unnoticed and alongside his advisors openly talking about a potential move, several clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on him.
Brighton are one of them, with a report earlier this month claiming that they are watching his performances closely ahead of a potential move in the summer.
Reuter has now commented on that speculation and insisted that neither Brighton nor anyone else has come forward as yet, but Augsburg will deal with it if they do.
“Ricardo has a long-term contract with us,” he said.
“With his qualities, he fits in very well with our style of play. The coach also appreciates him very much. Of course, I hear what his advisor said.
“But the facts are clear and there have been no enquiries, let alone offers for him. As always, we would deal with concrete and adequate offers. But we will discuss that directly with him and the agent, not in public.”
