Two days ago, Arsenal and Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka arrived in Bad Ragaz to start preparing for Euro 2020.
On May 27th, Gianluca Di Marzio reported AS Roma are ‘already working’ on a deal to sign Mikel Arteta’s man. Later that day, Calciomercato explained the Serie A side’s offer is €10m short of the Gunners’ €25m valuation.
Claims made in Italy are backed up by Blick, and they say both the Giallorossi and manager Jose Mourinho ‘absolutely want to lure Xhaka’ to Rome.
The two clubs have ‘started talks’ about a potential transfer, and Arsenal, who paid €45m for Xhaka, would obviously like to earn as much as possible from his sale. Blick state a figure around €18m plus bonuses ‘seems realistic’.
Mourinho is a ‘big fan’ of the Arsenal player and for Xhaka, the opportunity to play under the Portuguese tactician would have ‘certain appeal’.
Blick believe the player could change clubs before Switzerland’s firsr Euro 2020 tie, against Wales, on June 12th.
