On Monday, The Telegraph reported Chelsea want Atlético Madrid’s João Félix on an initial loan deal in the winter market, with an option or obligation to buy.
This claim is relayed by AS, who then provide their own information on this case. They say ‘everything points to a change of scenery’ for the 23-year-old in the second half of this season.
The La Liga side realised it is difficult for the forward’s suitors to pay €100m in January. Therefore, the possibility of letting him go out on loan is considered and the club that want him must pay €9m loan fee and take care of the star’s full salary.
Chelsea suits him since Graham Potter has asked the Blues for an attacker in the winter market. On the other hand, a short loan move would help the Portugal international to revalue himself in the Premier League.
Félix’s relationship with Diego Simeone, who has a deal until 2024, is broken. If the player returns after his loan spell next summer and the coach is no longer at the club, he could reconsider his position at Atlético. This possibility could be hindered by Chelsea wanting a buying option/obligation as part of the loan deal.
With less than a week left for the January window to open, there will be talks between clubs and Félix’s agent.
Chelsea are among the clubs interested in the ex-Benfica star and the newspaper explains what all parties want is for this case to be resolved quickly and not drag on.
As well as Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are still said to be keen on Félix.
