São Paulo rising star Ângelo has emerged as a target for Chelsea, according to journalist Jorge Nicola.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state Chelsea are using RC Strasbourg to sign the 16-year-old. Nicola further adds the ‘deal should be closed soon’.
The journalist also shared a YouTube video, where he provides more details on Chelsea’s strategy to secure the right-back’s signing.
He claims the youngster is one of the rising stars in Brazilian football and has represented his country’s U17s. Ângelo hasn’t been promoted to the senior team despite São Paulo having need in that position this year.
Chelsea are owned by BlueCo, who also own the Ligue 1 club, and the owner’s strategy is to use Strasbourg instead of the Blues to sign the young talent.
According to Nicola, Strasbourg are offering €5m plus €2m bonuses and the negotiations are ‘at an advance stage’. Although the proposal is low, São Paulo are unable to demand more due to their financial situation.
São Paulo believe the offer would have been higher had Chelsea tabled it instead of the French club. Ângelo can’t move to Strasbourg until January 2027, after he turns 18 years of age.
