James Trafford has had a reasonable spell at Burnley since joining from Manchester City.
He was a regular in the Premier League last season and has started the Championship season between the sticks for the Clarets.
The Englishman could yet leave Burnley this summer and as the transfer deadline edges closer, the club are being cautious about the scenario.
Sacha Tavolieri has reported that one goalkeeper that the Clarets like is Royal Antwerp’s Jean Butez.
There could be ‘movements abroad’ for the 29-year-old, who has also attracted attention from Lens. The French club agreed terms with Butez but they will not sign him unless Brice Samba leaves.
Burnley also see the Frenchman as a similar option. They have put him name ‘ahead’ in their shortlist, if Trafford departs on deadline day.
The ex-City man arrived for £19m and this means that a potential exit could fetch Scott Parker’s side a significant amount.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Trafford but signing him on deadline day could be a huge task indeed.
