Inter Milan have identified Tottenham Hotspur‘s Djed Spence as their main target to replace Denzel Dumfries.
The Serie A side came close to signing Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s Anan Khalaili, but the move collapsed after he failed his medical.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that Inter Milan have the Tottenham player and a few other targets on their list.
Work ongoing to sign Tottenham man
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Serie A winners are now working on securing the England international’s services.
This is despite Spurs’ high demand for Djed Spence, who can operate on both sides of defence and as a wing-back. Di Marzio states Roberto De Zerbi’s side value the fullback at €25-30m, although that seems on the low side.
Despite that overly optimistic price assumption, Inter Milan want to pay less for the 25-year-old.
They are also keen on Spurs star Cristian Romero, who earns €6.5m net per year. In this case, the north London club’s request of €50m is also ‘very high’ for the San Siro club.
Obstacles to sign Tottenham fullback
Calciomercato report Inter Milan have several options to replace Denzel Dumfries. Only the Tottenham Hotspur man gets a mention, but there are multiple obstacles to sign him.
The major one is the transfer fee and Cristian Chivu’s side consider this to be too high.
Djed Spence is preparing for the World Cup semi final against Argentina later today. The Three Lions will play one more match [third place finish or final].
Therefore, Spence won’t arrive before August 10th, if the Italian champions were to find an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur. He would miss most of pre-season, and this is another worry for Inter Milan.
Another player to leave Spurs
Inter Milan have launched an attempt to sign Spence and during the talks with Spurs, Cristian Romero’s name was brought up. The Nerazzurri are keen on the 28-year-old centre-back.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side value the Argentine at €50m, and this makes it complicated for the Nerazzurri.
