Inter Milan have Tottenham Hotspur‘s Djed Spence on their target list to replace Denzel Dumfries.
The Netherlands international ended his five-year spell at the San Siro to join Real Madrid last week.
Cristian Chivu’s side are looking for his successor and have the Tottenham player and others on their radar.
Why they’re focusing on Tottenham man
The Serie A winners have been working on signing Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s Anan Khalaili.
His father confirmed he’d rejected Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and others for Inter Milan. However, the Israel international hasn’t cleared his medical tests, forcing the Nerazzurri to look at alternatives.
This is where Djed Spence comes into the picture, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Juventus have shown interest in the England international since March. On June 10th, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy of the Old Lady’s attempt to sign him.
Spurs player’s deal complicated
However, the Turin club haven’t made advances while Inter Milan have emerged as rivals for the 25-year-old.
He can operate as both sides of defence and also asa wing-back. Djed Spence has played 287 matches, of which 109 were as a right-back and 75 as a right wing-back.
The Italian champions want him to replace Denzel Dumfries, but the costs associated with his signing are high. This makes it difficult for Inter Milan to sign him. Gianluca Di Marzio makes no mention of Spurs’ demand or the fee the San Siro club are willing to offer.
Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that the former Middlesbrough man is valued at €30m. He has a contract until 2029, with an option for another year, and Transfermarkt also value him at €30m.
Besides Spence, Inter Milan have Feyenoord’s Givairo Read, AS Monaco’s Vanderson, Atlético Madrid’s Nahuel Molina, RC Strasbourg’s Guéla Doué and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson as options.
Di Marzio claims the latter two have a high valuation and therefore, Inter Milan are ruling out the possibility of signing either of them. That’s likely to be the case with Spence as well, especially after his World Cup impact.
Last season, Spence made 44 appearances for Tottenham and played 32 of them as a left-back.
