Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is Fenerbahçe’s number one target for their forward line this summer, despite the deal for Mason Greenwood.

Fanatik report that Fenerbahçe are ‘on a transfer spree’ and will soon turn their attention to trying to take Watkins from Villa Park.

€60m asking price

According to the Turkish outlet, Fenerbahçe’s leadership have turned their attention to England following the arrival of Greenwood. That was a deal they had prioritised and spent a great deal of time working on.

Now they are pursuing Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa. The striker is the top target on Fenerbahçe’s list of strikers to bolster their squad this summer.

The England striker has, reportedly, already given Fenerbahçe the green light to pursue a transfer. But Aston Villa are currently demanding €60m for their striker. That is proving to be a challenge for the Turkish club.

Their board are now attempting to persuade Unai Emery’s side to lower this figure to €40m. That’s a figure which they would be happy to pay, albeit via an ‘instalment payment plan’. Whether Aston Villa would accept a payment plans remains to be seen.

Post World Cup talks

Sport Witness have been covering Fenerbahçe’s interest in Ollie Watkins for months. And the potential effort has refused to go away in the last month either.

A report last week explained that the Turkish side were planning talks with Aston Villa for the transfer, having already struck a three-year deal with the striker and his team.

A second report just four days ago then explained that they were willing to ‘push to the limit’ to try and get Watkins this summer.

And with his participation in the World Cup soon over, they have a clear runway to hold talks as much as they want. Watkins agent had previously insisted that no talks would happen until the World Cup was over. Now it’s a case of asking price, with Villa wanting a top price for their number one striker.
