AC Milan have been mentioned as a suitor for Arsenal‘s Viktor Gyokeres in recent days. It now appears as if the deal could be difficult.
The Swede has been running short of game time so far this season. At various times, that was the case in the 2025/26 campaign, as he wasn’t scoring consistently.
He has played only two times in the Premier League, with Kai Havertz becoming more of a regular. This has led to Milan exploring a possible deal and there were signs initial contact was made for a move.
Some more clarity about the possible deal is now emerging.
Gunners may not be open
Journalist Carlo Pellegatti spoke about Milan’s hunt for a new striker on his Youtube channel. He addressed the links around the Arsenal player but expressed belief a deal would be very difficult.
He said – via MilanNews: “I don’t believe in the Gyokeres option because they won’t give him to us on loan at all.”
Pellegatti offered the idea of a much more plausible option for the Rossoneri.
“It would mean investing another €70 or €75 million for the striker, I would rule it out. I keep reading and it seems to me that a more plausible option is the loan of Endrick, a Brazilian player. He turned 20 in July 2026, he’s a very talented player, currently playing for Real Madrid where he plays very little.”
More chances might be coming
Arsenal are currently under no pressure to move on from the 28-year-old striker. That will make a possible loan next to impossible, unless the Sweden international asks for a transfer.
That possibility looks remote, especially as Havertz has picked up an injury on international duty. This could hand Gyokeres some more minutes in the next few weeks.
It will change how Milan feel about the deal too. As Pellegatti points out, they don’t need another expensive striker. Goncalo Ramos was signed for a major fee and they should be trusting him.
