On Friday, AS stated Aston Villa are trying to speed up negotiations to sign Real Betis’ Álex Moreno in the winter market. It was also explained Unai Emery can be decisive in bringing the positions of the two clubs closer.
In recent days, there have been continuous contacts between the Villans and the La Liga side to outline the issues regarding a deal that may take place in January.
That’s according to Saturday’s ABC Sevilla, who state Aston Villa are ‘pushing hard’ to bring the 29-year-old to Villa Park.
Nottingham Forest wanted Moreno last summer, but their offer was deemed insufficient. Emery’s side have begun talks with Betis from a higher starting point than what was offered by the Tricky Trees a few months ago.
It’s said Nottingham Forest started from €4m and went up to €13m, while Aston Villa’s first offer is €10m plus €2m bonuses.
Betis have rejected it and put a €20m price tag on Moreno.
Despite turning down Aston Villa’s bid, the strong bet from Emery’s side to sign Moreno would suggest the negotiations ‘may have an end in the form of a transfer’.
