Aston Villa are interested in a move for Paris Saint Germain’s Abdou Diallo, who wants to leave the French giants before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who say Aston Villa and several other Premier League sides have ‘expressed interest’ in the Senegalese defender.
They report that Diallo is keen on a move away from Paris before the window shuts as he is short of playing time under Christophe Galtier.
He is fully a part of the squad at present and certainly not on the list of undesirables, instead spending his time training with the first team squad and being called up on match days.
However, while he is still as involved as ever and not a negative influence, he is not ‘fully satisfied’ with his situation.
He’s yet to play a single minute in the new three-man defence this season and has ‘no intention’ of spending the campaign sat on the bench.
He would instead prefer to leave and get regular gametime ahead of the World Cup and so he plans to ‘relaunch his career’ elsewhere.
A move away from PSG is ‘expected’ and Aston Villa have been ‘looking at’ him in the last few days, going as far as to add him to their list of options to replace Diego Carlos.
They’ve now ‘expressed an interest’ in the centre-back, who has a contract until 2024 and Diallo is ‘open’ to joining Steven Gerrard’s side.
Negotiations between Aston Villa and PSG have ‘not yet begun’ but the French giants will not block the move as the player wants a departure to secure regular playing time.
