Leandro Trossard has had an impactful season at Arsenal so far.
He has six Premier League goals and seven assists, having also scored twice in the UEFA Champions League.
The Belgian has shown that he is a useful squad player for Arsenal, who have used him across the front three so far this season.
Praise for the forward has now come from Belgium, with pundit Frank Boeckx hailing Trossard’s versatility on the pitch.
He said, as relayed by Sporza: “He is the first sub when everyone is fit. Then you play almost everything as the first sub.
“That sounds a bit derogatory, but I don’t mean it that way. Also because he can play in all positions.”
Pundit Filip Joos also added praise and noted how the 30-year-old’s output has remained high despite him playing a variety of positions.
“Last year Trossard had 12 goals and an assist. Now he has a lot more assists (6) and the goals are also starting to fall. So in terms of involvement in goals, he is at the same number.
“And he is that type. He is super flexible. I think Arteta is crazy about that, precisely because you can use him so well everywhere.”
Last season, Trossard contributed to a total of 19 goals in all competitions. This season, that number is at 17 and there are still some games to be played.
This suggests that the Belgium international can yet meet or even exceed his tally from last season, which shows his value to Arsenal, who have suffered a raft of injury problems to key players in the ongoing campaign.
Considering how the Gunners had signed the versatile forward from Brighton for only £27m, it is turning out to be quite a useful deal and if things go right, he could also help them in winning silverware this season.
