A week ago, Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos opened the door for the midfielder to leave Arsenal when his contract expires in June. The representative had also stated he isn’t sure if the Gunners have intention to retain his client beyond this season.
Santos hasn’t ruled out a return to Serie A for the former Napoli star. At the same time, Barcelona could also be an option for him.
That’s at least what Mundo Deportivo are suggesting, and they name the Arsenal player as one of the options the La Liga side would consider in the summer.
The 32-year-old has won the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea, and the European championship with Italy. It’s said he has already proved himself at the highest level and his experience could be a good option for a big club like Barcelona.
Mundo state the Arsenal midfielder would have an immediate impact at the Camp Nou but his age is a concern for Barcelona.
The Catalan club have signed midfielders İlkay Gündoğan and Franck Kessié for free in the last two summer windows. Taking their financial situation into account, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were to look at more free agent[s] in the next window.
At the time of publishing, the former Chelsea man has received less than 4% of the votes after Mundo asked Barca fans who they want, which is the second least after Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka among seven candidates. This indicates that Barca fans aren’t in favour of Jorginho’s arrival at the Camp Nou.
