Alejo Véliz left Rosario Central for Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and has spent the last 18 months on loan at Sevilla and Espanyol. The Argentine club are keen on bringing him back this summer.

On June 14th, TyC Sports reported Rosario Central’s dream of signing the striker had faded after Tottenham rejected their loan offer. Two days later, Via País stated they haven’t given up on him and the negotiations are ongoing.

At the weekend, we covered claims from Argentina which stated the Tottenham player will do everything he can to join his former club. The north London club, on the other hand, seem to favour a sale.

Rosario Central technical director Federico Lussenhoff has been a guest on Zapping Sport this week and discussed several topics, including the 21-year-old. Rosario3 have relayed his comments.

Despite an earlier claim stating that Rosario Central’s dream of signing the Argentina U21 international had faded, the director insists that isn’t the case. They are working on this operation, but it’s unclear if they’ll make a success of it.

“Negotiations are underway; I don’t rule it out. We all know what he can give us and what he gave us. We’ve worked on the transfer market and will continue to work. We understand the fans’ anxiety,” he said.

Rosario Central promoted Véliz to their first team in 2021 and he managed 19 goals and two assists from 63 games.
