Arsenal are among the clubs said to be in the mix to sign Sporting star Viktor Gyökeres.
The striker has managed 36 goals and 14 assists from 39 games this season and has also scored for Sweden in their 5-2 defeat against Portugal on Thursday.
Gazzetta dello Sport state AC Milan are keen on signing the Arsenal target in the summer.
The Rossoneri are looking to strengthen their attack next season and the 25-year-old’s name has been on the Rossoneri’s list for several months.
Stefano Pioli’s side aren’t alone and there’s competition from the Premier League. Arsenal get a mention and it’s claimed they are in the ‘front row’ to secure his services.
The Serie A side face the risk of losing the Sweden international as it would be impossible for them to compete financially with the Gunners. However, they can play a card which Mikel Arteta’s side and others can’t use… and that’s Zlatan Ibrahimović.
The Swede is a consultant for Milan and is also an idol for the Sporting star. Ibrahimović may be able help Milan to attract Gyökeres, amid interest from Arsenal and other clubs.
Gyökeres has a €100m clause, but Gazzetta state the price will drop and mention a fee of at least €50m.
This may be wishful thinking from Gazzetta as the Lions are unlikely to offer a 50% discount.
In fact, it’s near certain they’d reject anything around those figures.
