According to a claim in the Turkish media, Domagoj Vida has told Besiktas he wants to remain in Istanbul, but the club are still looking to sell the player.
Earlier today it was reported Arsenal are expected to make a late offer to sign the Croatia international.
Throughout this window Vida has been linked with a move to the Premier League, following his displays at the World Cup this summer.
Aksam say Vida has informed Umut Güner he wants to stay, but the Besiktas director has reportedly told the defender they may need to sell for the sake of the club. He’s paraphrased as saying: “Besiktas loves you very much, but the conditions of the club are important.”
Arsenal have been linked with Vida in the past week, and with Laurent Koscielny sidelined due to rupturing his Achilles tendon the Gunners could look to bring in the Croatian before the transfer deadline.
Besiktas manager Senol Gunes is said to be already planning the season without Vida by targeting former Cardiff City defender Gary Medel.
