Leeds United’s Jordan Botaka took the decision to leave the club because he wanted to secure a place in the DR Congo squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Leeds United attacker earlier this week joined Charlton Athletic on a loan for the season.
With the recent signing of former Valencia star Pablo Hernandez, Botaka may have realised he would be pushed further down the pecking order, and therefore decided to join Charlton.
Botaka joined Leeds United in the last summer transfer window from Dutch side Excelsior, but hardly figured under Uwe Rosler, and then his successor Steve Evans.
The winger played just 13 league games for the club in the last campaign, and also featured for Leeds United’s U21 side.
