Vicente Guaita has signed a pre-contract agreement with Crystal Palace, as openly announced by the Premier League club, and yet his situation seems anything but clear.
On Wednesday morning we covered claims from Spain that Guaita could be an option for Barcelona, should the Catalan club sell Jasper Cillessen this summer.
It was also stated Getafe are interested in retaining the goalkeeper beyond the end of his contract, but don’t want to pay so much (with €17m the figure used) to do it.
Where all these claims have been coming from hasn’t been clear, but perhaps that’s now changed.
Italy’s Calciomercato have spoken to Javier Coso Ruiz, who they present as the player’s agent.
There have been claims in Italy of interest from Napoli and others, and Ruiz is quoted as saying: “It’s true there were some approaches, they asked us. We are very pleased with the possibility of playing at a club like Napoli, we like Serie A very much and we like Napoli very much.”
Ruiz was then quizzed more about Guaita’s role, with Bernd Leno also being linked to Napoli: “We should then see who will be the first and who the second goalkeeper, Vicente is a great goalkeeper and has everything to be the holder of Napoli and to do it well. He’s a goalkeeper who assures points to the team.”
On Fiorentina interest, Ruiz said: “Yes, they too have asked us about his situation.”
Crystal Palace aren’t mentioned once in the report.
