Watford have submitted an offer to sign Didier Ndong from Sunderland in the current transfer window, report L’Equipe.
The French newspaper, in an article published on Thursday evening, state Watford are initially looking at a loan deal for the player.
There’s also a €9m purchase option, but L’Equipe don’t make it clear whether this would be down to the choice of Watford in the summer, or be a compulsory permanent deal.
A transfer for the 23 year old has been rumoured this month, but Sunderland haven’t received a line of offers, so the Watford approach will give them something tangible to think about.
At the time the transfer fee was put at €20m, and such was the surprise at the size of that amount, RMC stated the leaders of Lorient ‘almost fainted’ when they heard of Sunderland’s approach.
L’Equipe themselves called it Sunderland’s ‘moment of madness’.
