Super Deporte have a claim on Sunday which seems pretty much designed to enhance the reputation of Rodrigo Moreno and the player’s good season so far.
Third in La Liga, Valencia are having a great start and Super Deporte, the newspaper probably closest to the club, want to underline that.
It’s stated that Pep Guardiola submitted a ‘juicy’ offer for Rodrigo during the summer transfer window, with Manchester City willing to pay a total of €35m. That figure included a base fee and more, dependent on Rodrigo’s achievements and appearances for the Premier League club.
Last season Rodrigo scored 5 goals and added 3 assists, the season before it was 2 goals and 3 assists. Not great for a central attacker.
Whilst Rodrigo’s 4 goals so far this season, and Spain call-up, suggest a brighter period for the player, it’s very hard to believe Manchester City made such an effort during the summer.
Still, it plays well for the Valencia friendly media.
