Brentford are a ‘possible destination’ for Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite this summer as the Catalan giants look to offload him.
That’s according to Sport, who say the player has made it clear he has no intention of leaving the Nou Camp.
They explain that despite Braithwaite making it clear he wants to see out his contract with Barcelona, the club has begun to put ‘serious pressure’ on his entourage to find him a new club.
That’s because he is one of the players Barcelona want to get rid of this summer and, unlike some of the others, has been ‘accumulating more offers’ in recent weeks.
They are hoping their numerous links with Denmark, such as their owner also owning Midtjylland and the several Danish internationals in the squad could lead Braithwaite to open up to the idea of the move.
They’re looking for a striker a belief he would he would fit into their system, while Brentford manager Thomas Frank knows the striker as well.
Braithwaite is aware of the interest, and his national team colleagues hope he will accept, although at the moment, he is reluctant to leave Barcelona.
Xavi and co believe that stance will change in the coming weeks and are ‘genuinely surprised’ at the level of interest that has been building up in the player.
His low contract means he is an affordable target for many and there are clubs in Spain also competing with Brentford to take him from the Nou Camp.
