German winger Serge Gnabry left Arsenal to sign for Werder Bremen this summer in a €5m deal. The 21-year-old exited the North London club due to lack of regular playing time, and has started off well in the Bundesliga.
Gnabry has two goals and one assist to his name in 5 appearances, and also impressed at the Olympics during the summer, where he ended as the top goal scorer.
He has often been compared to Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, and in a recent press conference, Gnabry revealed he has tried to copied the German international.
Quoted by Germany’s Sport1, Gnabry explained:”Everyone knows that Mesut Ozil is a great footballer and from him I’ve learned much, and copied from.”
This week we covered an article from Germany’s SportBild. The magazine had spoken to Germany’s Olympic coach Horst Hrubesch, who explained he felt Gnabry had the talent to go on and emulate players such as Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira.
Hrubesch said: “Serge Gnabry is an exceptional footballer, otherwise Arsene Wenger would not have taken him to Arsenal at the time, and he is fast-paced and has a super technique… He has a quality that you have to search for.”
