Thomas Tuchel wants to go to England and Manchester United are interested in him if they decide to move on from Erik ten Hag this summer.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who says Tuchel is keen on a return to the Premier League after his time at Bayern comes to an end.
Tuchel announced earlier this year that he had reached an agreement to leave Bayern at the end of the season, with an apparent split in the dressing room leading to his departure.
Since then, though, several of Bayern’s potential replacements have fallen by the wayside and the German giants have progressed into the Champions League semi-finals to boot.
It’s led to a strange situation in which nobody appears clear on what will happen with Tuchel, who has been linked with a return to the Premier League in the interim.
Manchester United are believed to be huge admirers as they could part ways with Ten Hag in the summer, and Falk insists Tuchel would like that move.
“Tuchel wants to go to the island, he’s hotly tipped at Manchester United,” Fussball Transfers report him saying on the Bayern Insider podcast.
Manchester United may need to move quickly to speak to the German coach, though, as he hasn’t ruled out going on a sabbatical when he leaves Bayern according to journalist Tobias Altschäffl.
Numerous managers have taken that approach down the years, with Jurgen Klopp set to do it after leaving Liverpool after doing similar post Borussia Dortmund, while Pep Guardiola also took a sabbatical after leaving Barcelona.
And that could appeal to Tuchel too after something of a difficult time in Munich according to Altschäffl, suggesting Manchester United may want to make a move on him soon if they are keen.
“He hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of taking a sabbatical,” he added in conversation about the German manager.
