There was something of an exodus of strikers from West Ham this summer, as Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez both departed.

Javier Hernández was supposed to join them but, so far, he hasn’t found a new club and has instead featured under Manuel Pellegrini this season.

It was a little surprising that the Mexican couldn’t find himself a new club, given his experience and strong scoring record around Europe.

One offer he did have on the table was a return to Chivas, and we covered quotes from their president earlier this week about how he had tried to bring Hernández back to his homeland.

It seems the Liga MX side remain determined to get Hernández out of West Ham and are putting on the charm offensive to try and making it happen.

The latest man to step up and declare their love is Chivas boss Tomás Boy, who didn’t hold back when discussing Hernández and West Ham in a recent press conference.

“It would be great. Sure (I’m interested in signing him),” AS Mexico report him as saying.

“He fits, of course, good players fit in my team, and ‘Chicharito’ is a fabulous scorer. Of course, I would have liked him to choose a better team in order to perform better, but he is a fabulous player.”

“I would love for him to come. Amaury (Vergara) is thinking of making Chivas a great team, he told me.”
