Emanuele Giaccherini is currently on international duty with Italy at the Euros in France, and the Sunderland star is one of the first names in Antonio Conte’s starting XI.
Sunderland, however, are prepared to lose the Italian international this summer, with just one year left on his contract.
The 31-year-old spent the last season on loan at Bologna, and initially rumours, prompted by the player’s comments, suggested he’d sign permanently for them, but he’s been linked with a move to Torino and Fiorentina recently.
The latest rumours link the Sunderland man with a move to Napoli, and his agent Furio Valcareggi has been addressing those claims to the Italian media.
“Even three seasons ago when Bigon was there, we offered Giaccherini to Napoli, who had several proposals for Hamsik and thought of selling him, but then the Slovakian was not sold,” he told Radio Crc (via TMW).
It is reported Sunderland would pocket around £1.6m for Giaccherini, but surely the club would want more than that.
