As Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today shares a story on the future of Porto star Evanilson, the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United all get a mention.
Their piece comes at a time when the English media said a couple of clubs have been scouting the attacker in action for the Dragons.
It’s been reported that Arsenal and Newcastle both sent scouts to Porto’s match against Estoril just to see Evanilson’s exhibition.
O Jogo claims the interest from the Premier League started with Manchester United, as back in 2022, the Red Devils tried to sign him by placing a €65m offer on the table.
Porto blocked the Red Devils’ attempt back then, and even protected Evanilson with a new contract, which runs until 2027 and includes a €100m release clause.
O Jogo doesn’t back up the news about Arsenal and Newcastle interest and didn’t include either club on their scouting list, so we’ll have to wait and see if Gunners and Magpies would actually go for Evanilson’s signing in the summer.
Manchester United, meanwhile, probably won’t return with that amount of money again.
