This week, we’ve seen strong reports from Brazil saying Liverpool made an attempt to sign André from Fluminense.
It was claimed the Reds had shown they wanted to spend €30m on the midfielder, and with the Rio de Janeiro side not willing to sell, it was even said that Jurgen Klopp’s side would give up on the pursuit.
With Liverpool’s attempt making big noise in the Brazilian media, André himself was now asked about the situation. The quotes come from Globo Esporte.
The player didn’t directly mention the Reds, but made it clear he’s only thinking of Fluminense and the final months of the season at his club.
“Obviously it’s normal for offers to come in. Even more so when the team is doing well, progressing through the Conmebol Libertadores, at the top of the Brasileirão. Not just for me, but for others too. I’m happy for the offers that come in, but my head is 100% focused on Fluminense today,” said André.
Globo Esporte once again makes it clear that Fluminense’s dream is to win the Copa Libertadores for the first time. They’re about to play the quarter-finals and believe to have a good enough team to fight for the title.
André has recently been called to the national team, and in case he continues to develop like this, he could even become more expensive very soon, much to the frustration of Liverpool.
It’s also added that Fluminense have ‘warned in recent days’ they have no intention of letting their player go in 2023.
