Before travelling to London on Friday morning, Arsenal’s new signing Jurrien Timber had a word with the Dutch media.

The defender spoke to NOS about the move to the Premier League, and claims to be very excited about that.

Even though the transfer to Arsenal was only announced on Friday at 3pm, Timber admits he’s known all about it for a while, but that doesn’t change the ‘jitters in his stomach’.

“A bit. It’s been known to me for a while, but such a day is still wonderful to experience,” Jurrien Timber told NOS.

Timber also spoke about his conversations which Mikel Arteta which led him to accept the Arsenal move, and is looking forward to improving the well built Arsenal team.

“It’s no secret that Arteta is a top trainer. It’s just nice for me to experience that up close.”

“They have played a very good season, that will stick.”

It was on Friday afternoon that Arsenal announced Timber’s arrival from Ajax, with Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta telling their official website about how excited they are to have completed his transfer.

The player joined Ajax’s academy back in 2014, and after stepping up through the youth ranks, he made 121 appearances for the Dutch side’s first team.

Arsenal are believed to have paid €40m to sign him from the Amsterdam club, and the Gunners only announced that he’s joining on a ‘long-term contract’.
