Real Betis’ efforts to sign Pablo Fornals from West Ham United were borne this week after discussions between Manuel Pellegrini and Ramos Planes.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who cover the interest today and where it has come from this summer.

The newspaper explains that Fornals has ‘several proposals’ to leave West Ham this year and return to La Liga, with Betis among them.

They’re interested through Pellegrini, who worked with the player during his stint in charge at the London Stadium and has ‘personally endorsed’ him to those higher up at the club.

A recent summit between Pellegrini and his superiors during a pre-season training camp in Germany saw Fornals’ name gain ‘considerable prominence’ in their plans according to Estadio’s sources.

Any potential deal for him would be separate from the one reportedly taking Luiz Felipe to West Ham but the shared interest in each other’s players is there, nonetheless.

Pellegrini is a big fan of Fornals and what he could bring to his team, having worked with him at the London Stadium, where had insisted the club sign the player.

The belief is that they can secure a discounted transfer given Fornals is in the last year of his contract in London.

Any deal would be ‘quite complex’ despite that because there are other La Liga clubs interested and Betis’ financial situation is tight, until they complete a major sale such as Felipe.

Pellegrini is a fan, though, and Betis are now working on a possible deal for the midfielder as a result of that after his name was brought forward as an option in meetings this week.
