Wolverhampton Wanderers are preparing a bid to sign Sporting midfielder João Palhinha, according to claims from Portugal.
Newspaper A Bola today features a piece reporting that despite news of interest from many European sides, it’s really Wolves who will be ‘the first’ to make their chase formal.
It’s said the Molineux side want to ‘take the lead in the race for Palhinha’, and currently prepare an offer of €20m to soon present to Sporting.
A Bola points out that the influence from Jorge Mendes and the ‘good relationship’ between the clubs could make an understanding easier, even though it’s only the numbers offered by Wolves that will make the deal possible.
Sporting have already ‘made it known’ they’ll negotiate Palhinha’s exit for between €20m and €25m, and Bruno Lage’s side will start by offering something lower.
A Bola once again claim Palhinha dreams of playing in the Premier League, although he’d rather join a club with ‘more ambitious objectives’. The midfielder is now spending time with the national team and only after that will he analyse the offers on the table.
