Currently with 22 goals for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, Raúl Jiménez is having the greatest form of his career.

The striker has found his best football in the Premier League, following his move from Portuguese giants Benfica back in 2018.

And it’s probably with a bitter taste that the Eagles see his success at Wolves, since Jiménez couldn’t do the same when in Lisbon.

With 31 goals in 120 appearances for Benfica, the club worked hard to find an interested side who could pay a big amount for him. The deal with Wolves ended up being closed for €38m, plus the other €3m for the loan in his first year.

Today, Portuguese newspaper Record has a column about Jiménez, and they bring an impressive amount of compliments about the striker.

Journalist Rui Dias basically shows Benfica how good the player really is, and we’ve picked some of the best bits that are featured in the story.

“RJ suits any style, is important in all strategies and adapts to any school”, the column says.

“At Wolverhampton he found paradise where he discovered the habitat to express himself in full, because the tactical and strategic versatility of the team led by Nuno Espírito Santo offers him solutions.”

“RJ is intelligent in the interpretation of every moment that calls for his intervention in the game and has the rare gene of, at the same time, being vertiginous and patient; footballer and scorer; courageous and instinctive; supportive and hero; exuberant and sober; obsessive but well-formed.”
