Wolverhampton Wanderers could be given a second chance to sign Barcelona youngster Trincao this summer.
That’s according to El Confidencial, who say the Portuguese winger is on the sell list at the Camp Nou as they look to raise funds this summer.
They explain that with debts of around €730m in the short term, Barcelona’s new leadership need sales from the current squad before they can add new players, namely Erling Haaland, this summer.
As a result, a list of saleable assets has been drawn up, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho among the high-profile names.
That ‘closed the door’ to traditional wingers, and so Barcelona are looking to move him on, particularly as he has a deal until June 2025 as well.
That’s where Wolves come in, with it explained that his youth and the ‘predilection’ of certain teams with ‘strong ties’ to Jorge Mendes – in other words, Wolves – means that a deal is ‘seen with good eyes’.
In other words, Wolves strong connection to Mendes means the possibility of signing a young Portuguese talent is one that appeals to them.
Now, there is no mention of a transfer fee at this moment in time, but Barcelona will be determined to get back as much of that €31m that they can, so expect a fee around that price.
It’s not the first time Wolves have been linked with Trincao; earlier this month, we covered a report that stated a deal was likely to be difficult to get done but that now appears to have changed, with Barcelona’s desire for a sale seemingly opening the door.
