Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today shares interesting news on the future of Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Gonçalo Guedes.
According to the outlet, Wolves are ‘opening the door’ for the player to stay at Benfica for at least one more season.
O Jogo explains that the first intention from the Premier League side was to loan the 26-year-old to the Eagles and, following a positive season in Lisbon, the ‘priority’ was to sell him for a big amount.
The problem is that Guedes’ recent injury slowed down that entire operation. Now, in case Wolves don’t receive any attractive offers for a summer sale, ‘another scenario’ is open, which is the extension of the loan.
The Molineux side are fine with that, Benfica would gladly accept that, and Guedes reportedly believes this is a ‘positive’ scenario as well.The story claims that Wolves were looking to sell Guedes for the same €32m they spent to sign him from Valencia last summer.
That sounds very unlikely at this stage, especially with him sidelined in the most important part of the season, so patience should indeed be key for the good sale they’re planning.
