Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is praised a lot in a column from newspaper Record this Wednesday.

In an opinion piece written by Rui Dias, the 21-year-old’s potential is highlighted in a way that he’s now expected to be the next big thing in Portugal’s midfield.

The writer claims that sometimes it’s needed one step back to make two steps forward. But in Neves’ case, he’s walked ten steps forward.

Dias calls Neves ‘an extremely rare species’ of a midfielder. “He’s much more than a 6, has everything to be a great 8 and, on the limit, can even be a 10”, he says.

Ruben Neves has left Porto to join Wolves on a €18m deal last season. He had already worked under Nuno Espírito Santo at the Portuguese side, and that was definitely a factor which made the move easier.

Even though Neves wasn’t getting much game time at the Dragons, he didn’t need much to adapt to English football. The midfielder has seven goals and two assists in 47 appearances for Wolves so far.
