A Newcastle fan who was stabbed in Milan ‘will be discharged shortly’ after not suffering any serious injuries in the incident.

That’s according to La Repubblica, who provide the latest details on the incident following reports of a Newcastle fan being stabbed.

The newspaper reports that a 58-year-old Newcastle supporter was stabbed in the back and right arm after being confronted by a group.

Reports of the incident claim that a group of 7/8 people, who were hooded, attacked the fan and left him with stab wounds.

He as immediately hospitalised on ‘code red’ but La Repubblica say he is fine and ‘will be discharged shortly’, which is good news after a horrible incident.

Newcastle’s fans have arrived en masse to support their team in the Champions League clash with Milan this evening and have flooded the streets, concentrating on the Navigli region in particular.

Hundreds of shirtless fans have been seen in the streets between the canals and the Darsena and remained there until late in the evening on Monday, with them expected to move towards the San Siro later today.

For the majority everything seems to have been fine and received in good spirits, with the Italian media not putting a negative slant on the travelling supporters.
